Collage work inspired by field trip to IAIA

Ms. Douthit’s  ELA classes visited the IAIA museum for the show called "Art of Indigenous Fashion." With help from Diana Padilla , Community Schools Coordinator. They also went to the New Mexico Museum of Art to see the show, “Through Western Eyes." The tour guide at IAIA was a person named Nuttaphol Ma, who immigrated to the U.S. as a 7-year old child. He talked to the students about clothing as a part of our identity.  Ms. Douthit asked her students to look in magazines to find colors, textures, and shapes they liked and that might make good "clothes" on paper. They needed to create an outfit out of torn or cut paper. Some were swept away by entire fictional scenarios.  Milagro hallways are always full of amazing student work.
