It is with deep sadness that we share the tragic news of the passing of Mrs. Sue Greig, Assistant Principal of Milagro Middle School. Mrs. Greig lost her life in a car accident last night. Mr. Mark Waugh, a Milagro Middle School teacher was also in the accident and is currently in the hospital. We are keeping him and his family in our thoughts during this difficult time.
Mrs. Greig was a dedicated educator and a beloved school community member. Her commitment to her students and staff, along with her compassionate spirit, made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working with her. Mrs. Greig’s memory will live on in the hearts of her students, colleagues, and all those she touched through her work and kindness.
Our thoughts and prayers are with both families as they navigate through this unimaginable loss. We ask the community to join us in sending love and strength to both the Greig and Waugh families in this time of profound loss. Santa Fe Public Schools will be offering support and resources to anyone in our school community who may need assistance during this challenging time.

The New Mexico Public Education Department has issued new guidance for handling threats that originate on social media. Recently, schools across the nation have seen a surge in social media threats—many of which are hoaxes or pranks. Even when these threats are unfounded, they can still lead to widespread fear, the cancellation of events, and a strain on resources.
We urge everyone to be vigilant online and report any suspicious activity to authorities. Let's work together to keep our schools safe and protect our community's well-being.

What students do both inside and outside of the classroom impacts their educational success. When students participate in activities outside the classroom, such as clubs, sports or school events, they develop a sense of belonging and community. Check out this week's SFPS Bulletin at https://conta.cc/3X6DVUb and the perspective of Lucas Robbins, a senior at Mandela International Magnet School and student member of the SFPS Board of Education, as he discusses student engagement!
